|
Mitigation banking is a new and profitable approach to satisfy wetland and endangered habitat protection regulations. Anyone can create, or invest in the creation of, a wetland bank. As-long-as growth and land development occur, the demand for mitigation banks will increase. In support of this new approach, the federal government has recently published guidelines that encourage the establishment and appropriate use of mitigation banks.
Sustainable Environments, LLC (SE), believes that mitigation banking is an essential component of sustainable development. Mitigation banking is both an investment opportunity and a means of environmental stewardship that will result in an eventual net gain in environmental quality. SE works with land owners, agencies, and investors on all aspects of bank creation including: regulatory, stakeholder, economic and ecological feasibility studies; property and service area selection; credit market analysis; construction; land development plans; permit negotiation; and technical evaluations of environmental conditions. SE focuses on identifying and creating the best value mitigation banks (i.e., those that command high credit demand, have low acquisition and construction costs, and are easy to certify).
